This Privacy Policy explains how Touvar ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the touvar.com website and mobile applications (together, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: full name, email address, mobile number, and a hashed password when you register. Your mobile number is verified using a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS.

Location preference: the city or state you choose to browse, saved to your account (if logged in) or a cookie (if browsing as a guest), so listings relevant to you are shown by default.

Content you submit: listing and requirement post details, photos you upload, and messages you send through the in-app chat feature.

Usage information: pages you view, ads you interact with, and basic activity logs (e.g. login, ad posted, ad approved/rejected) used for security and to keep the Platform working correctly.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account, and verify your mobile number via OTP.
  • To show, filter, and rank listings and requirement posts relevant to your chosen location.
  • To let you communicate with other users through the in-app chat about a specific listing.
  • To review and moderate submitted listings and requirement posts before they go live.
  • To send you transactional SMS messages — for example, OTPs, or a notice if your ad is rejected and why.
  • To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Sharing of Information

We share information with the following categories of third parties, only as needed to operate the Platform:

  • SMS gateway provider — to deliver OTP and transactional SMS messages to your mobile number.
  • Other users — your name, and content you post (listings, requirement posts, chat messages) are visible to other users as part of normal Platform use. Your mobile number is only revealed to another user if you choose to share it, or if they use the "Show Phone Number" option on your listing.
  • Advertising — some pages may display internally managed banner ads or third-party ads (e.g. Google Ads). Third-party ad providers may use their own cookies or tracking technologies subject to their own privacy policies.
  • Legal requirements — if required to comply with a legal obligation or valid request from a government or law enforcement authority.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and your browser's local storage for:

  • Keeping you logged in (session cookie).
  • Remembering your chosen city/state so you don't have to select it on every visit.
  • Optionally remembering your login identifier (not your password) if you tick "Remember me" on the login page — this is stored only in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.

5. Data Security

Passwords are stored in hashed form and are never stored or transmitted as plain text. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time — see our Account & Data Deletion page for details on what is deleted and how to request it. Some records (such as anonymised activity logs) may be retained for legitimate business or legal purposes even after account deletion.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Choices

You can review and update your profile information at any time from your account. You can change your default city/state from the header at any time. You can request deletion of your account as described above.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
